What
was 1968, what traces did it leave, did it win or lose its battles: these are
questions to which this project tries to respond only indirectly, well aware
of the complexity of the historical object and of the contradictions that
assail its reconstruction.
In
so many ways "contemporary", in so many others irremediably over,
1968 appears as a dense network of facts, ideas, pulsions that escape a
common interpretation. One ’68, good for everyone, even just for those who
took part in it, or believed that they did, is a spectre devoid of
consistency. As for every great movement, strong is for everyone the
temptation to distinguish the good from the bad, the authentic from the
non-authentic, the memorable from the insignificant.
