A data base on the movements of 1968 is also in construction with the collaboration of various European archives. This will collect, over time, texts, documents and images, arranged according to various possibilities of reading and consultation, which will be functional for the work of historical researchers and for diffusion with a more widespread public.
Due to the extremely large amount of material and the multiple aspects of the theme, the project has a particularly complex structure and foresees the study of innovative solutions for seeing that this complexity flows into simple processes of reading and consultation. The project therefore also aspires to providing methodological solutions for the application of multi-medial technologies to the field of contemporary historiography.
The Media '68 consortium is composed of five organizations from two countries of the European Community (Italy and France): Acta (Italy), Archivio audiovisivo del movimento operaio e democratico (Italy), Emme (France), Le Monde (France), Manifestolibri (Italy).
The coordination is entrusted to MANIFESTOLIBRI, a publishing house that specializes in sociological, philosophical, historical and political non-fiction, and which is linked to "il manifesto", an independent political daily with nationwide distribution.
ACTA is a hi-tech business, that specializes in electronic and multi-medial publishing; in particular it has done important jobs on historical-artistic patrimony.
THE ARCHIVIO AUDIOVISIVO DEL MOVIMENTO OPERAIO E DEMOCRATICO is an important archival structure which for decades has been collecting material on social movements and has produced various audiovisual shows.
EMME is one of the main European distributors of multimedial products.
LE MONDE is the most widely distributed French information daily newspaper and among the most important in the world.
