Another day of battle and very violent clashes in Mexico City. There is doubt about the approaching inauguration of the Olympics. Numerous the arrests carried out in the homes of student leaders. Two deaths in clashes between students and police in Montevideo.

The students of Mexico City reply with Molotov cocktails and gun shots to the attacks of the Granaderos, who by now are shooting at the height of man. The battle causes tens of injured. The arrests are over a thousand.

The rector of the university of Mexico resigns in protest against the violence of the Granaderos and the repressive choice of the government. 7,000 professors threaten to follow him. Closed until the 15th schools and universities in Uruguay.

During the night, the Granaderos attack an occupied institute of the Polytechnic of Mexico City. The students defend themselves by burning cars, lorries and vans and shoot from the roofs. At dawn the dead are 15 and the institute is still occupied.

The siege of the Polytechnic continues. Armed clashes also in other parts of Mexico City. The Granaderos ask for reinforcements and the army intervenes.

The police interrupts a flying rally of the students in a popular market of Mexico City. The crowd takes part in the clashes. In the afternoon new armed clashes after a central demonstration of the movement. Two dead.

Condemned to 8 months of suspended sentence and three years of probation Cohn-Bendit, arrested after a clash between students and police in Frankfurt.

Treaty in Mexico. The government promises the reopening of the university and the withdrawal of the Granaderos. The rector withdraws his resignation. In a press conference the strike council of the students invites to avoid clashes and guarantees not to sabotage the Olympics.
