The organization for African unity (OUA) withdraws the recognition of the PAC in South Africa and concentrates all its support on the ANC. Recognized the MPLA(in the place of FNLA) in Angola, the Frelimo in Mozambique, Swapo in Namibia, Zapu in Rhodesia.

The Soviet Union Communist Party and the Czechoslovakian Communist Party announce a meeting between their two delegations, for the following day, in a locality on the border between Czechoslovakia and the USSR. Pravda exhorts the Central Committee of the Czechoslovakian party to openly fight against the right-wing forces.
The students of Mexico City occupy the Polytechnic, the preparatory school for higher studies and declare a general strike as soon as it is discovered that the previous day 8 demonstrators were killed. The injured are 500 among whom many Granaderos.

|
Fifth day of demonstrations in Mexico City. In spite of the precise promises of the government, the students find the centre controlled by armed cars, paratroopers and Granaderos, and they react by building barricades with buses. In the end there are 10 dead between students and Granaderos. 1,200 the arrested.
Tass defines the atmosphere of the encounter of Cierna as one "of frankness and companionship". The USSR abolishes the restrictions with regard to tourism in Czechoslovakia decided in the previous days. The Russian newspapers, for the first time in many days, do not attack the new trend.
