MASK FOR INTERROGATING THE DATA BASE

The data base foresees the possibility of offering a number of search keys in order to obtain the information desired with respect to the documentation. Considering that information flows into the data base from archives of different European countries and therefore in different languages we have decided to guide the search route allowing the user to choose one or more search keys taking them from the field dictionary of the descriptors, of the anthroponyms and of the toponyms and possibly indicating a range of dates within which to limit the search.

Choose one or more tables
on which to carry out the research:
Archives    Collections    Archival units    Documents

Specify one or more keys for the search (separated by “;”) inserting them or choosing them from the list :
Descriptors    Anthroponyms    Toponyms

Indicate a range of dates within which to limit the search:
From .................. (dd/mm/aa)
To .................. (dd/mm/aa)

Our data base is both a reference data base, inasmuch as in some cases the search will have as its result not the original documents, but a descriptive record which provides a series of facts relative to the query (e.g. the abstract of the archival unit which responds to the query, their location and all the references necessary for consulting them), and a source data base, making it possible in other cases to directly consult the documents, recorded or acquired, which respond to the query.
Access to the data base is completely free of charge for the document data base.
Access to the archive data base is diversified on two levels: the first, free of charge, permits access to all the instruments of consultation existing in the various institutes (guides, inventories, indexes, catalogues of magazines, etc.) reproduced in the site, to the information relative to the institutes that preserve the documentation and to the archival records (collection record, archival unit, document), accompanied in some cases by the reproduction of the document; the second on payment (through a subscription with the offer of a suitable packet of services, or more specific on request) which will permit the consultation on line of the documents that interest the user, provided with further archival information from the registration of the documents.
